The assesment process is based on the ALS ( Assesment Levels ) which is graded on your risk level. The risk level is decided on by the country which you are coming from and the education sector in which you will be entering.
There are five assesment levels. Assesment level one being the
lowest risk and level five being the highest.
If you are wanting to work whilst studying in Australia, you can do so by applying for 'Permission to Work' through the Department of Immigration. If you got your visa on or after the 26/04/2008 then you will already have permission to work.
However in order to work in Australia you will need to get a Tax File Number through the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
If you would like to extend your stay then you can do so providing you don't have a 'No furthur stay' condition on your visa.
All of your visa information is held electronically, providing easy access for you, your education provider, banks and any future employers.
