Special Announcement UWSCollege Diploma Programs moves to Nirimba in 2009 - new courses

UWSCollege is a wholly-owned entity of the University of Western Sydney
(UWS) and offers English Language and Academic Pathway Programs through
which students can enter the Degree of their choice at UWS. The College is
relocating the Diploma Programs to Nirimba, Quakers Hill.


The outstanding UWSCollege Diploma Program will open the
doors of its new home at UWSCollege Nirimba on 23 February 2009.


UWSCollege Nirimba at Quakers Hill (previously known as UWS Blacktown
Campus) is a custom-built learning centre owned by UWS. From February
2009, the campus will be dedicated to providing Diploma students with a
pathway to university.


Our English Language Programs and University Foundation Studies
courses will remain at UWS College Westmead.


Relocation of the Diploma Program to UWSCollege Nirimba will significantly
increase learning and career opportunities for students. Superior
education facilities at the campus include tiered and flat-floor lecture
theatres, computer labs, multimedia facilities, an extensive library and
private study rooms. Recreation facilities include tennis courts, a
swimming pool, volley ball courts, a student lounge and a great café.
Onsite student accommodation, in the form of townhouses and units are also
available.

Diploma Program students and staff will share UWSCollege Nirimba with the
Professional and Community Program. TAFE NSW Western Sydney Institute -
Blacktown College and two selective high schools are close neighbours.

The genuine sense of community at UWSCollege Nirimba is supported by vast
landscaped gardens, round-the-clock security and abundant car parking
space. The campus is well-serviced by buses and trains and only 30 minutes
by car to the City of Parramatta.

NEW Diplomas in Engineering and Science now available

UWSCollege's highly successful Diploma Program will be expanded in 2009 to include a Diploma in Engineering and Diploma
in Science

These new diplomas will significantly increase learning and career
opportunities for international and Australian students.

The Diploma in Engineering and Diploma in Science are offered alongside
the current UWSCollege Diploma in Business and Commerce,
and Diploma in Information and Communications Technology. A Diploma in
Social Science is planned for 2010.

Entry* to UWS Degrees

UWSCollege Diplomas are equivalent to the first year of a university
degree. On successful completion of the diploma programs students will
gain direct entry into the second year of a corresponding undergraduate
degree at UWS.

Diplomas in Engineering and Science will be offered in a three-semester
format only, whereas the Diplomas in Business and Commerce, and
Information and Communications Technology, offer the flexibility of a
two-semester or three-semester format.

UWSCollege currently provides 300 international and Australian students a
year with the academic and English language skills they need for
university. This number is set to increase in 2009, with the Australian
Government's pledge to support an additional 200 local places.
